Atidia was founded in 2019 by successful entrepreneur Dr Gideon Kowadlo and passionate clinician Dr Daniel Stiglitz with the aim of harnessing the power of artificial intelligence and clinical know-how to dramatically improve patient surgical care.

With the perfect combination of clinical and technical expertise, they set out to build algorithms and technology that enables safer, smarter, and resource efficient surgical outcomes.

The Founders

Dr Gideon Kowadlo

A passion for building things that matter from algorithms to organisations – for positive social impact, Gideon is a serial entrepreneur.

Previously Co-Founder and Director of Outware. Outware built some of Australia’s most impactful applications for premium clients, received multiple industry awards, grew fast to a team of 250 people and were successfully acquired by Arq (formerly Melbourne IT) in 2017.  Gideon is also a Co-Founder of Cerenaut, an independent research group developing bio-inspired general purpose AI to improve decision making.

Gideon has deep expertise in organisational leadership, technical and innovation strategy as well as leading and scaling teams with a foundation of collaboration, empowerment, quality and innovation.

He also has extensive R&D expertise, holding a PhD in robotics engineering, with experience covering computer vision, AI, protein modelling, motor control and mechatronics. Gideon is focussed on multidisciplinary approaches to new modes and applications of cognition.

Dr Daniel Stiglitz

Dr Stiglitz is a consultant anaesthetist and perioperative physician that works in public and private practice throughout Melbourne.

Daniel completed anaesthetic training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne in 2011. During his training he gained valuable skills, treating highly complex patients. Daniel enjoys the challenge of high risk anaesthetics and is dedicated to improving medical practice through perioperative medicine.

He is passionate about education and as such enjoys teaching other specialists, registrars and medical students. He is involved in several teaching programs including the PROMPT course through western health, the National Airway refresher course, Theatre Nurse teaching, and regularly delivers lectures and tutorials.

Phill is an experienced technology leader, web developer and solution architect. He has held senior roles in government involving multiple stakeholders and sensitive data.

Yoel

Machine Learning Lead

Yoel is a senior technology expert with an accomplished career in the health industry working across multiple health tech solutions. He is passionate about delivering effective technology solutions that are driven by the needs of organisations and consumers.

Software Engineer

Chris has been building technology for over a decade.  He is an avid coder and is passionate about building solutions that make a big impact.

The Advisors

Neil Batt

Neil is a former Tasmanian government minister, Deputy Premier and Member of the Tasmanian House of representatives.  A member of the Labor party he was leader of the party in Tasmania, and Leader of the opposition from 1986 to 1988. He also served a position with the United Nations in Bangladesh.

 

Lee-Ann Breger

Lee-Ann is a leader in transformational R&D focussed on improving essential services. She has extensive experience in the health care sector having held positions as director of partner relations & program officer in the Digital Health CRC, and senior roles at Medibank.

Peter Collins

Peter is a design leader with 15+ years experience leading design at some of Australia’s most successful companies. He has a strong interest in AI, research, product & brand design. His passion lies in helping companies grow by designing products and services their customers love.

David Goldberg

David is an experienced General Counsel, Company Secretary and Corporate Governance Executive. He has led the legal, risk and governance functions for major complex public entities across a number of industries, including health, disability, aged care and emergency services.

David Gyorki

Dr. Gyorki is a specialist surgical oncologist. He has a particular interest in the management of patients with melanoma, soft tissue sarcoma and breast cancer and has appointments at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Olivia Newton John Cancer Centre and Epworth Healthcare.

George Kantianis

Dr. Kantianis is a specialist anaesthetist & has worked in public healthcare since graduating from University. In 2012 he was awarded fellowship of the ANZ College of Anaesthetists. He currently works as a specialist anaesthetist at Barwon Health & has a broad scope of practice with a subspecialty interest in paediatric anaesthesia.

Robert McLeay

Robert has a deep background in medical research and medtech startups. He previously founded DoseMe, providing individualised dosing to 150 hospitals in 10 countries based on machine learning from within the hospital electronic health record software.

Amir Paluch

Amir is a skilled M&A and Corporate Finance practitioner having led transactions from initiation through integration both in-house and advisory and directly managed investor relations, corporate restructures and capital raising processes. He has worked across multiple global corporations such as Envato, Linfox, and Rothschild.

David Rawlinson

Applied AI/ML for 20+ years in both industry & academia, in Europe and Australia. Focus areas included med-tech particularly in genomics, bioinformatics & medical imaging.
